STORY

I almost missed this one. The rainforest was thick with noise and movement, but this frog, tucked into a perfectly curled leaf, was completely still, almost part of the plant itself. Just a soft glint of eye and the faint red markings on its head gave it away. I moved slowly, knowing a single shift might send it deeper into cover. The blackness surrounding it wasn’t staged, it was the natural fall of night in the Ecuadorian jungle. I used a narrow beam of light, careful not to overwhelm it. What resulted was a portrait of stillness: a creature small enough to disappear, yet bold enough to hold a viewer’s gaze. This is what I love most about the rainforest, it's full of surprises, especially the quiet ones.
